Ultraviolet Pictures has optioned The Christmas Wish, the New York Times Bestseller written by Lori Evert with photographs by award-winning photographer Per Breiehagen, for feature film development. Published by Random House it is available in six languages.

The enchanting story, set in the winter wonderland of Norway, follows a young girl who dreams of becoming one of Santa’s elves and sets off on a quest to find him where she learns to be kind, to be brave and to believe.

The film adaptation will bring to life the young girls hero’s journey across the tundra guided by the great muskox and the mighty polar bear. The big screen format will amplify the exquisite beauty and captivating magic of the original story and echo the book’s timeless message of hope, generosity, and belief.

“I am drawn to stories that capture a sense of wonder and connect audiences across generations,” said producer Dana Friedman. “The Christmas Wish has all the ingredients of a classic holiday film — a visually stunning world, a brave young heroine, and a story that celebrates faith, family, and the power of dreams.”

Ultraviolet Pictures, known for developing and producing live-action family entertainment rooted in heart, imagination, and enduring values, continues to expand its slate of literary-based projects for the screen.
